The Council of the Great City Schools will bring together directors of transportation from large school districts in conjunction with its 2014 meeting of chief operating officers.

The Council of the Great City Schools is a membership organization of the nation’s largest urban school districts. Its 2014 Chief Operating Officers Conference will be held April 22-25 in New Orleans.

The meeting's theme is "Managing for Results," which is a dominant theme in the council's work. The council is inviting industry leaders to share their insight to help develop strategies that address the issues facing the chief operating officers and directors of transportation operations in large school districts.

Officials said that of particular interest is to identify innovative management practices that would increase efficiencies and the effectiveness of these operations, generate cost savings and, at the same time, improve the overall quality of services. The meeting's format is designed to provide ample time for substantive discussion on critical issues and challenges.
