AFVi to educate drivers, techs during conference

LAS VEGAS — In conjunction with its conference being held in Las Vegas next week, the Alternative Fuel Vehicles Institute (AFVi) is offering a session on driver and technician safety training for alternative fuel vehicles on May 14 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel.

For fleets that are considering or have acquired alternative fuel vehicles, the half-day session aims to educate the drivers and mechanics who are responsible for safely operating and maintaining these vehicles.

The course covers key factors to ensure safe fleet operations for battery-electric, biodiesel, ethanol, hybrid-electric, natural gas and propane-powered vehicles. Topics will include properties and characteristics of each alternative fuel, equipment and safety practices, emergency action plans, alternative fuel vehicle technology and fueling.
