WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Durham School Services was recently awarded a three-year contract with Rochester (Mich.) Community Schools (RCS).

The company will provide transportation services beginning in July for the 2012-13 school year. Officials said the contract will save RCS approximately $4.7 million over the three-year period.

Durham will operate 97 home-to-school routes and 109 buses transporting approximately 7,055 general-education students, 268 special-needs students and 800 non-public school students each day.

“Durham School Services is looking forward to serving Rochester Community Schools,” said Justin Grygiel, director of business development. “We are committed to delivering the highest level of safety and customer service to the district, students and families, and we are excited to be a vital part of this community for years to come.”

Durham plans to rehire as many drivers, monitors, mechanics and staff from the district as possible.

The buses serving RCS will be equipped with GPS tracking systems to ensure the safety and on-time arrival of all students taking the bus.
