Music played an important role in my life when I was growing up, and it continues to influence me on many levels, so I was intrigued when SBF received word that school bus contractor Student Transportation Inc. (STI) was involved in a media art and music education project.

The company recently unveiled a mobile recording studio in partnership with Carolina Studios, which is a nonprofit organization that aims to teach media arts to urban youth around South Carolina.

STI provided the school bus that was transformed into the mobile studio. Officials said it will travel to schools around South Carolina to teach at-risk youth ages 8 to 18 about music technology and media arts.

Below are more photos of the bus.

CEO of STI Denis Gallagher (back row, left) poses inside the Mobile Recording Studio built for Carolina Studios. He is pictured with local children and Mark Bryan (sitting, left), chairman of Carolina Studios and lead guitarist for Hootie & The Blowfish.

The Carolina Studios Mobile Recording Studio features three digital music workstations, a soundproofed vocal recording studio, and state-of-the-art equipment to help children learn the technology, create their own music and take it home with them.

Do you have an interesting school bus-related photo or an interesting set of photos? If so, we’d like to see them. Send them to info@schoolbusfleet.com.

Until next time,
