Suspects identified in bus vandalism case
Authorities in Gonzales, Texas, arrest 17-year-old Layne Navarro and detain two other minors in connection with the incident, which occurred earlier this month. The 14 Gonzales Independent School District buses were broken into, and the onboard fire extinguishers were discharged.
GONZALES, Texas — One teenager was recently arrested and two others have been identified in connection with burglaries and vandalism of 14 school buses here, Gonzales Enquirer reports.
The incident occurred between the evening of Nov. 6 and the morning of Nov. 7. The vandals are believed to have climbed over the fence that surrounds the Gonzales Independent School District bus yard, broken into the buses and discharged the onboard fire extinguishers.
When transportation staff arrived on Nov. 7 and discovered the damage, police were contacted. Officers searched the school district in search of the fire extinguishers, and they were reportedly able to quickly apprehend the suspects. Seventeen-year-old Layne Navarro was arrested, and two other minors were detained.
