American Traffic Solutions has been awarded a five-year contract with the King County Directors Association (KCDA) to provide its CrossingGuard solution to association members.

KCDA is a purchasing cooperative that provides centralized procurement services for public school districts in the state of Washington, as well as neighboring states. CrossingGuard is a school bus stop-arm violation photo enforcement system.

When a bus’ stop arm is deployed, the CrossingGuard system automatically detects a vehicle illegally passing the bus in either direction, and it captures video of the violation and images of the vehicle’s license plate.

Officials said the goal of the program is to reduce the number of injuries and/or fatalities related to stop-arm violations.

“We’re excited to have an opportunity to partner with KCDA on this important safety initiative,” said James Tuton, CEO of American Traffic Solutions. “Our CrossingGuard solution provides schools, bus drivers and the police with an important enforcement tool to protect children as they enter and exit the school bus.”
