CHESTERTOWN, Md. — A 12-year-old boy who allegedly ignited a marine flare on a school bus filled with middle school students on March 5 is facing arson and other charges, WBOC 16 reports.

The loaded flare gun was inside a bag in the boy’s possession when it went off, according to authorities. The bus driver quickly evacuated the students before the bus went up in flames.

As SBF previously reported, there were 28 students on the bus, and all were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
