LAKE LOUISE, Alberta — Pupil transporters will convene here next month for the Canadian Pupil Transportation Conference, which will be hosted by the Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council.

The event is in its 30th year, and it will be held April 17-21. The theme for this year’s conference is “Looking Out the Window.”

Conferees will have an opportunity to attend educational workshops and sessions, listen to keynote speakers and network with their peers.

The speakers include Dr. Allan Beane, Ph.D., of Bully Free Systems, who will discuss bullying, and industry veteran Dr. Linda Bluth, who will discuss transporting students with disabilities. Peter Lawrence, director of transportation at Fairport (N.Y.) Central School District, will talk about professional relationships with staff, students and parents. He will also address driver distraction.

In addition, the event will include a trade show.

School bus operators, school board officials, federal and provincial government representatives, and industry manufacturers, distributors and suppliers are encouraged to attend.
