KING, N.C. — A school bus driver for Stokes County Schools has been charged with a felony for having a weapon on school grounds.

Stewart Hobbs, superintendent for the district, told WFMY News 2 that the driver, Wayne Lindsay, has a permit to carry a concealed weapon. He parked his car at one of the district’s schools with the gun inside while he drove his bus, and someone alerted school officials that Lindsay had a gun in his car.

Lindsay has been suspended from his duties at Stokes County Schools while the county sheriff’s department investigates the incident. His gun permit has also been seized, WFMY News 2 reports.

Excellent idea for a "background check" carry concealed permit holder to have his gun where it might be needed most. I guarantee you a "bad guy" would not be concerned about having a permit. If we ban all good guys from carrying guns you can rest assured that only bad guys will have them? Think Columbine, VT, etc............

I think someone was trying to get the driver in trouble. He had a legal permit, it was not on the bus and yes it was on school grounds but someone had to have a excuse to get him. If he was not showing the gun or waving it around, then what was the point. I would be willing to bet more than one person working at the school does the same thing daily. Being able to pass a required background check for both his job and permit for the gun should tell you something about him. I did not notice if his car was locked or not but I still think someone wanted him to get in trouble.
