HIGH POINT, N.C. — Thomas Built Buses has called on school bus riders across the nation to nominate their favorite driver for the third annual Children’s Choice School Bus Driver of the Year contest.

The contest asks children in kindergarten through sixth grade to submit a 90-word essay on what makes their driver special.

The winning essayist will earn a $1,000 educational savings bond and a laptop computer. The driver who he or she nominates will be given a $1,000 Visa gift card.

Fifth-grader Keirra of Acworth, Ga., won last year’s contest with her essay about bus driver Angelia Woodie. “She disciplines those who misbehave with the loving patience of a saint,” Keirra wrote.

This year’s contest runs until Aug. 1. Rules and details on how to enter are at www.thomasbus.com/contest.
