COLUMBIA, S.C. — The EPA presented the South Carolina Department of Education (DOE) with funds to install emission-control equipment on school buses throughout the state.
With the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s support, the DOE will use the $244,500 grant to retrofit 500 of its school buses with anti-idling devices and crankcase filtration systems.
The grant was awarded as part of the EPA’s Clean School Bus USA program and is one of three being awarded in the Southeast this year.
