Stock Transportation acquires Ontario school bus operation
Stock Transportation Ltd. gains 30 new drivers and 23 additional routes in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, after buying the student transportation division of McLellan Transportation Co. Ltd. McLellan has provided student transportation in the area since 1923.
BARRIE, Ontario — Stock Transportation Ltd. completed the asset acquisition of the student transportation division of McLellan Transportation Co. Ltd. of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
With this acquisition, Stock will gain 30 new drivers and operate 23 additional routes in Kirkland Lake.
“We see this as a great fit and expect a seamless transition, as McLellan’s customers, the Grande Rivieres Board and the Tri-Board are already serviced by Stock Transportation,” said Kim Worster, Stock Transportation’s chief operating officer. “We welcome the McLellan employees and look forward to providing the families they serve with the same safe, reliable student transportation for which Stock is known.”
McLellan Transportation has provided student transportation in the area since 1923.
“We are pleased to have Stock Transportation take over the business from us,” said Andy Wright, owner of McLellan Transportation. “They are professionals in our industry, and our drivers and students will be in good hands.”
For now, the McLellan buses will continue to operate under the McLellan name. However, parents will eventually see Stock Transportation buses driving their children to and from school, officials said.
The acquired McLellan division will operate out of its existing bus facility under the leadership of General Manager Luc Charlebois and Regional Manager Greg Shand.
