Anti-theft device addresses emergency needs
The Ignition Security System allows bus drivers to address emergency situations while preventing the vehicle from being stolen. When the system is activated, the key may be removed from the ignition while the bus is still running, enabling the driver to attend to an emergency or child-assist situation. Any attempt to move the brake pedal or shift lever will immediately shut off the engine.
Premium hard parts added to product line
The Abex commercial-grade brake product line for medium-duty vehicles has been expanded to include more than 3,500 hard parts, including wheel cylinders, master cylinders, rotors, drums, remanufactured calipers and a full complement of other brake hydraulics, cables and hardware. The Abex medium-duty offering also includes more than 230 different disc brake pads and new steel brake shoes.
New white LED lighting solutions offered
Dialight Corp. has added two white LED lighting solutions to its product line — a 3-inch round recessed spot for the bus driver’s interior illumination and a 6-inch, high-intensity strip light for compartment and stepwell illumination. The recessed spot features high flux LEDs, reduces the number of transformers required and increases battery life.
Gear lubricant offers thermal stability
Chevron’s Delo Synthetic Gear Lubricant SAE 75W-90 offers oxidation and thermal stability, is ideal for sub-zero weather conditions and meets OEM warranty requirements. SAE 75W-90 also provides extended drain capabilities and top performance in a wide range of operating temperatures. The lubricant is available in pail and drum sizes.
New battery designed for heavy-duty vehicles
RoadForce AGM-200 is a lead-acid battery designed for trucks, buses and other heavy-duty vehicles. It has individual safety pressure valves and is available in two power levels — 925 cold-cranking amps (CCA)/200 minutes reserve capacity (RC), or 700 CCA/200 RC. It can be charged by most standard battery chargers and alternators.
Catalyst targets performance, emissions
The Fuel Performance Catalyst (FPC) is designed to use the carbon in the combustion cycle as well as residual carbon within the engine to increase performance and reduce emissions. FPC carries a warranty and a patent and is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. The product costs about 3 to 4 cents per gallon of fuel treated.

Products stop tire vibration, erratic wear
TRU-BALANCE’s wheel centering products are designed to eliminate tire vibration and erratic tire wear. The systems center the wheel to the wheel stud rather than the hub pilot to create a true center of the tire and wheel. As a result, the products eliminate uneven motion — extending tire life and creating a smoother, more fuel-efficient ride.
New safety calendar released
Edupro Group’s 2008, 18-month illustrated “Safe Ride” Calendar offers safe practice tips related to school bus transportation. It covers topics such as proper loading and unloading procedures, driver training and attitude, food (and allergies) on the bus, how to react calmly to stressful situations and emergency evacuation protocol. Stories and illustrations from the book White Knuckle Rides inspired its subject matter.
