<i>SBF</i> unveils photo contest for readers

We want to see more of you! That’s why we’re sponsoring a photo contest that will culminate in a pictorial essay in an upcoming issue.

Winners in the three categories — maintenance, operations and equipment — will receive a $100 cash prize plus a framed certificate. We will also select two honorable mentions in each category. Each will receive a framed certificate.

The three categories are broadly defined to give you the opportunity to be creative. We thought it might help, however, if we provided some guidance:

Maintenance — Generally, this would be a photo in the garage. It could feature a technician working on a bus. Or it could be an artsy shot of a bus on a vehicle lift. Almost anything with a maintenance angle will fit the bill.

Operations — This could be a photo of a bus picking up children at a school or traveling along a highway. It could also be a photo of people in the transportation office or the driver’s lounge. Let your imagination be your guide.

Equipment — We like to see photos of your fleet. That’s why we created this category. The buses could be parked in the lot or at a school or bus stop. There could be some overlap with the Operations category, but it’s up to you to choose which category best fits the photo.

There is no right or wrong here. Be as creative or as straightforward or as humorous as you like.

Judging will be done by SBF’s editorial staff. We’ll be looking for content and quality, above all else. It might help to add some creativity and artistic sensibility, but those will be secondary considerations.

Rules and regulations. Photos can be submitted as jpg or tif files. They must be high resolution (at least 3 by 4 inches at 300 dpi). Limit three entries per person. All photos must be original and not previously published.

Please do not mail prints, slides or transparencies. They will not be considered in this contest.

Entries must be received by April 30, 2005. Winners will be notified by May 13, 2005. All entries become the property of SCHOOL BUS FLEET Magazine.

Entries should be sent to mail@schoolbusfleet.com. Entrants should include their name, title, affiliation and phone number.

A category should be designated for each entry.
