TORRANCE, Calif. — Grab your camera and start shooting — it's time for SCHOOL BUS FLEET's Fourth Annual Photo Contest!

This year's competition will be broken into the same three categories as in previous editions. One winner per category will receive a $100 cash prize. Each winner plus two honorable mentions per category will also earn a certificate.

Here are the three categories:

Maintenance — Examples of this type include, but are not limited to, a technician working on a bus, a wide view of a shop and a bus on a vehicle lift. Almost anything with a maintenance theme will work.

Operations — This is probably the broadest category. It could be a photo of a bus picking up children, transportation office staff on the job, a driver-training session in action, etc.

Equipment — Entries in this category should showcase one or more buses. The bus(es) could be shot in the lot, at a school or in some scenic locale.

The judges (SBF's editorial staff) will be looking for strong content and quality. Feel free to be as creative or as straightforward as you'd like.

Winners and other notable entries will appear in a pictorial feature later in the year. To look at last year's contest pictorial, turn to pg. 32 of the August 2007 issue.

Here are the contest regulations:

  • Entries must be digital images that are high resolution (about 1,200x900 pixels or bigger). No prints, slides or transparencies will be considered.
  • There is a limit of three entries per category per person. Please specify the category for each photo.
  • Entries must be received by June 6, 2008. Winners will be notified by June 20.
