ELYRIA, Ohio — Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake have expanded their in-person training programs for 2020 with additional Air Brake Training and Advanced Technology Training courses.

Bendix will offer a total of 30 three-day Air Brake Training sessions at 25 locations in 19 states from March to November, according to a news release from the company. The two-day Advanced Technology Training course — first introduced in 2019 — will start in May, and will be held for 11 sessions in Ohio and Nevada, before concluding in November. Registration is open for the complete schedule of both courses. To register, go here.

“To address increasing demand for service training, we’re offering more sessions of both courses than last year,” said Lance Hansen, Bendix’s vice president of aftermarket sales, fleet, service, and operations. “And every class is conducted by a member of the ASE-certified veteran Bendix Service Engineering Team, to help equip teams across the industry with the technical knowledge they need in today’s demanding and rapidly changing commercial vehicle landscape.”

Bendix’s Air Brake Training course is aimed at both new and experienced technicians, and covers the description, operation, and service elements for the total range of components found within dual air brake systems, according to the company. Classroom topics include the fundamentals of compressed air; tactics for air system failure mode diagnosis and troubleshooting; and components such as air compressors, valves, foundation drum brakes, and air disc brakes.

Bendix recommends that technicians complete the Air Brake Training course before taking the Advanced Technology Training, which covers the operation and troubleshooting of higher-level driver assistance and safety systems, as well as diagnostic software. These systems and software include:

  • AutoVue Lane Departure Warning System from Bendix CVS.
  • Bendix ACom PRO diagnostic software.
  • Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program.
  • Bendix Wingman Advanced collision mitigation technology.
  • Bendix Wingman Fusion driver assistance systems.
  • SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS.
  • SmarTire and SmarTire Trailer-Link TPMS by Bendix CVS.

The Advanced Technology Training also features in-depth, hands-on maintenance instruction for Bendix air disc brakes and electrical diagnostics.

Enrollment for the courses is on a first-come, first-served basis, and class size is limited. Per-person enrollment costs are $400 for Air Brake Training and $350 for Advanced Technology training.

Registration may be completed online at or; by phone at 1-(800) AIR-BRAKE, option 3; by email at; or via fax (216) 651-3261.
