HANNIBAL, Mo. — A young boy’s letter to his mother explaining why he missed the bus has gone viral after his older sister shared it on Twitter, FOX 43 NEWS reports.

Twitter user @sarahhollidayyy shared the note with followers on Tuesday.

“As your son, I regret to inform you that I’ve missed my means of transportation,” the letter says. “I know you must be on a roller coaster of emotion but rest assured, I’ve decided to stay home.”

The boy adds in the letter that his decision to stay home was a difficult one filled with much consideration. He also politely asks his mother not to interrupt him as he will be “in [his] bed moping about the fact that [he] can’t go to school.”

He accompanied his letter with a pros and cons list encouraging his mother to reference it if she “required any further assistance.”

Fox 43 News reports that Sarah let followers know her mother did indeed let the boy stay home after all.

The letter has over 927,000 likes and has been shared over 211,000 times.
