IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — A school bus driver here was arrested on DWI charges after he was allegedly driving his bus under the influence with students on board.

Police told WHAM that Anderson Hollins, 54, submitted to a random alcohol test on Monday, and his blood alcohol content (BAC) was found to be above the legal limit. Hollins was reportedly transporting seven students from East Irondequoit Central School District, ranging in age from 5 to 11 years old. Court papers state that surveillance video from the bus shows Hollins drinking a clear liquid from a container while driving the bus and picking up students, according to the news source. No one was injured.

Hollins was charged with seven counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, aggravated driving while intoxicated while operating a bus with a passenger, and driving with a BAC greater than .08%, WHAM reports. He pleaded not guilty, and posted $5,000 bail on Tuesday.

Mary E. Grow, the interim superintendent of schools, said in a letter to students' families posted on East Irondequoit Central School District's website that Hollins is currently on administrative leave, and the district will follow due process necessary to terminate his employment. Grow added in the letter that this was an act of one district employee, and the district remains proud of its bus drivers and their safety record of transporting students.
