GILFORD, N.H. — Home surveillance video shows a student here nearly getting hit by a car recently as he was crossing the road to board his school bus.

The video of the incident, which took place on Aug. 31, shows two boys standing at the end of their driveway, waiting for the bus. After the bus stops, the boys start to cross the street, and a car speeds past them. One of the boys, who is 7 years old, jumps back as the car crosses his path.

David Cota-Robles, the father of the boys, told WMUR that his sons weren’t hurt, but that it was “very scary.” He posted the video on his Facebook page, along with a request for people to share the video and “make others aware of the dangers of careless or distracted drivers.”

Kristian Kelly, deputy chief of the Gilford Police Department, told WMUR that the police department takes reports of incidents like this very seriously, and does everything it can to figure out who the motorist is and to find out what happened. Police also urged drivers to stop for school buses, which is the law.
