TYRESO, Sweden — Dafo Brand AB has separated its vehicle fire detection and suppression operations from its core fire safety equipment business.

The new business unit, Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection AB, went into operation this week. It supplies fire detection and suppression systems for buses and coaches, mining and construction equipment, forestry and waste handling equipment, and material and cargo handling.

Business Unit Manager Johan Balstad said that the purpose of the change is “to more closely focus on the long term continuous development of the vehicle operation in the light of global growth and customer requirements. A separate legal entity will make it easier to acquire required skills, resources and capital to facilitate the development of Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection AB.”

Also, Balstad noted that Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection’s U.S. operations are run through company subsidiary Dafo USA, which he said “will strengthen our position in North America.”

A company spokesperson said that Dafo’s fire detection and suppression systems are available for school buses in the U.S. through the Dafo US subsidiary.
