AMELIA COUNTY, Va. — Two men here are facing charges after they were accused of threatening a school bus driver who was dropping off students on Tuesday afternoon.

Amelia County Public Schools received reports of an unsafe situation involving the bus, the district said in a news release. Two parents in the neighborhood approached the bus and reportedly made threatening comments to the driver. The district said that the driver continued on the route, and students were delivered home safely. It was alleged that a firearm was in the possession of one of the parents.

After school personnel and local law enforcement reviewed the bus video to assess the situation and law enforcement conducted an investigation, it was determined that there was no firearm present at any time during the incident, the district said in the news release.

The parents were reportedly dissatisfied with how the driver handled a situation with students on the bus, WRIC reports. The Amelia County Sheriff’s Office told the news source that the two men were charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.

The school bus driver had started about a month ago and was new to the route, according to WRIC. The driver was moved to another route after the incident and will receive additional training as needed. Dr. Jack McKinley, the district’s superintendent, told the news source that the district is monitoring the route to meet students’ needs.
