HUDSON, Ohio — Securement supplier AMF-Bruns of America is kicking off a new program to recognize school bus drivers who transport students with special needs.

For its first annual National Special-Needs School Bus Driver of the Year Award, AMF-Bruns said it will look for a driver distinguished by “special accomplishments, meritorious and heroic acts, and innovations to improve their jobs.”

The winner of the award will receive a $1,000 check from AMF-Bruns, which provides wheelchair and occupant securement equipment for school buses and other vehicles.

“Trained drivers play a critical role in safely transporting wheelchair and occupant passengers with special needs,” the company said in an announcement. “AMF-Bruns extends appreciation to school bus special-needs drivers for their service.”

The enrollment deadline for the award is Aug. 1. For more information, go to amfbrunsamerica.com/award.
