KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Allison 2000 Pupil Transport Series (PTS) transmissions will feature an extended warranty of seven years/unlimited miles on Blue Bird buses starting next year.

The extension is up from the previous base warranty of five years/unlimited miles. The new warranty will be standard on the 2000 PTS series delivered by Allison to Blue Bird starting Jan. 1.

Blue Bird announced the new warranty at the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Summit in Kansas City on Tuesday.

“We are excited to offer this level of coverage to our customers, and are pleased to work with Allison on extending the warranty offered on their line of 2000 PTS series transmissions,” said Phil Horlock, president and CEO of Blue Bird. “This action aligns with our goal to provide the best buses in the industry, with proven reliability and support from our supply partners.”

Also at the NAPT trade show, Blue Bird showcased new products and partnerships. That included the NAPT debut of the new Vision CNG bus, a Vision diesel bus equipped with a Cummins V5.0 engine, a Micro Bird G5 propane-powered bus, and a Micro Bird T-Series bus.

Other displays in the Blue Bird booth included the new Eaton Procision transmission offering, Hendrickson suspensions, Ford/ROUSH CleanTech powertrains, Bendix electronic stability control, and Blue Bird parts and service.
