We are currently looking to purchase new cut away buses and are trying to see if there are any maintenance issues with either chassis/engine? Both chassis are gas engine, chevy with a V8 and ford with V10. What is everyone running and what are your thoughts/comments/concerns? |

Why not forget the cutaway and get a smaller capacity IC CE or BB Vision with gas engine? Durability, visibility, engine access, parts interchangeability |
Why yes, the ORIGinal CHARGER is a Fastback |

There are quite a few routes where clearance is an issue. Otherwise I would be pushing for IC CE's, we have already tried with our C2's and it just wont work. |

We've got a BB Microbird that's on a chevy 1 ton van chassis and have had good lock with it. It's not great on gas but it's better than the ford v-10's. Ford has weak trannys too. |

We ran 22 type A's in my fleet, 19 of them Ford. Of that, I ran 4 gas Ford's, and 3 gas Chevy's, both supporting Collins bodies and seemed to have good luck with the gas engines overall. Drivers preferred the Chevy as it offered a nicer ride and a better layout for the driver. We really didn't do anything with any of them beyond normal PM service. The 6.0 diesels are a different story - constant issues, but that's not something you'll be worrying about. |
