https://www.schoolbusfleet.com/news/733306/school-bus-driver-honored-for-quick-thinking-in-crash

I have a problem with this story. Does anyone else?

Someone sent me a link to the raw video last night: https://www.1011now.com/content/news/School-bus-leaves-roadway-ends-up-in-yard-of-Gretna-home-506725551.html

Listen to the engine. Is it me or does it sound like it's rev'ing up and down? Like the throttle is being pumped...which is exactly what the NTSB describes as often happening during "pedal misapplication" events. https://www.ntsb.gov/news/events/Pages/Pedal_Misapplication_in_Heavy_Vehicles.aspx

Watch close and you'll see the video was edited, a person appears behind the crash bus, doesn't appear to be walking, just appears. That's unfortunate because there's a period missing where we might have heard the air being dumped from the parking side.

If anyone finds a story or the actual post-crash inspection report, please post it, especially if it proves me wrong. We need to learn from these things.

"Busses do have pressure issues every once in a while". What? The other driver needs to train his/ her students to cross in front of the bus as well.

Don't know if the engine sound is due to an echo effect or if the engine is actually surging. Could be either; it's hard for me to tell for sure. Pedals may well have been an issue.

I think there is certainly more to this than what was reported. The girl in the video probably has been trained; it's likely her parents that keep her inside until the last minute that need the refresher.

Good point on the echo. I wasn't referring the girl who went behind the bus stopping on the street, but rather after the crash, you'll see a person seeming to randomly appear from the right side of the crash bus.

I see that. At about :38 mark it has some cut out. The guy from the truck disappears and then reappears going the other way as well.

Ill give the benefit of the doubt to anyone...pending a thorough investigation. But something about that clip doesnt sit right with me. Hope im wrong and they find an odd (couldnt have been prevented) kind of failure.

not rev'ing up and down but you can tell that both pedals are applied at the same time
sounds like its dumping boost and abs is chattering
