egr cooler is bad
!. drain coolant
2. removed turbos as one piece ( with e-brake pipe) and with oil lines(remove feed at filter housing and returns at crank case filter) removed dog house, air filter and bracket and right frt. fender makes it easier to access all ( egr hot pipe bolts are a blast and easier with turbo assembly removed with the e-brake pipe attached to turbos)
3. remove cooler
4. up here in Canada we have lots of rust so heres my parts list for this job
5. 3869550c1-1 clamp for e-brake part
2512884c91-1 doser
3006707c1- 2 doser mount bolts
7078677c1 -1 doser coolant fitting
3005476c1- 1 the other doser coolant fitting
1891696c91- 1 e-brake pipe
2015983c1- 1 gaskets(for pipe)
1893794c1- 1 e brake pipe top clamp
2513976c92- 1
1885356c93- 1
1885360c95- 1
1885584c92- 1
7078617c1- 1 doser coolant pipe
7078618c1- 1 the other doser coolant line
some parts I don't have what they are probably coolant lines at the frt. of cooler
done alot of these
no easy test if no external pools , so its internal and with a doc and dpf hard to see coolant burning off
you can remove the egr hot pipe and look for moisture in pipe or in the cooler

I agree with Bluenozer. There are specialty tools to test the cooler for leaks, but I assume you don't have those tools. The 07-09 emissions had problems, so I would assume the later emissions does too.

Agree with above.... 99 percent chance it's EGR cooler leak.. if losing coolant and no visible external leaks.... Cooler is mounted mid point on right side of engine block, kind of under and in front of turbos

o-rings come with the coolant lines and one of those numbers is a egr kit with gaskets, etc.
