Need some help, guys, lots of white smoke came from left side valve cover 2005 VT365 engine, open valve cover, smoke everywhere especially around number 2,4 injector when idling, no sure where came from, not look like from injectors, any idea how to test, if remove high pressure oil rail, will not be able to fire the engine, cannot see smoke again, Thanks!

We had one do that after it dropped the rings. Did you check your oil for a milkshake?

Thanks for reply, Jmeyer92, no, my oil is ok, not milkshake, actually I just replace 8 set brand new piston rings, is that possible piston bore worn out, leaking compression, smoke came out from crankcase?

Thanks Ronf, I know VT365 does not have cylinder liner sleeve, but is there any other way to fix that except replace the whole engine block? Thanks

Either put a short block, long block, run ready reman, or cummins repower are you only option.

I don't want to sound mean or doubt you technical abilities, but prior to doing rings you should have mic-ed the cylinders and pistons. That would have told you if they were out of speck
