I feel this officer needs to be instructed by someone who can explain that this is a safety device to disconnect the batteries. It will assist emergency response teams in the event of fire, to avoid fire as well as disable the bus in the event of hijacking. It is no different than disconnecting the batteries. It is also not used by drivers to power down the bus under normal conditions. I doubt most drivers are even aware it exists. It is also not a normal part of post trip inspection routine. I would contact your state specialist and have them provide instruction to this over zealous individual. |
