Ive seen with differnt contractors many different ways that the buses are decaled. For instance with Stock (Durham School Services) in Texas, the contractor came in and painted over all of the district numbers and the district name. They then proceded with there own numbers, logos, and they put the district name at the bottom of the bus. Now with some buses that ive seen with Durham School Services (Durham Transportation) the districts name have been left on the side of the bus but then at the belt line of the bus Durham applied there old cow logo along with the number Durham number. Is there any specific rules or regulations that say how the contractors can label the buses? Any help or information
Thanks

My contractor can choose what he wants on our buses. All of our school district buses have the school's name written on both sides, and a three diget number on each side of the bus and in the front and back. Our contractor name is on the lower panels of the bus. Some of our bus and the new buses have the Blue Bird bird replaced with a butterfly, which is our co.'s symbol.

It depends on state regulations. In Michigan, you must have the name of the owner/district on each side of the bus and on the front and back. They also must have a number on the front, back, and on the roof in the front and back of each side.

I also forgot to mention that on some of the spares we get from the main garage in the city have our contractors name on the sides were the school district's name would be.

Our state requires that each school bus shall have the school district name on both sides of bus under the window line in 6 inch
letters and numbers. "SCHOOL BUS" on the roof caps must be 8 inch letters.

Private contractors in this state must also follow these guidelines, however a private contractor may place his name on the lower side skirts near the front of the bus.

Numbers are required on the front, rear, and both sides of the bus. This is a state policy.
No-one can alter these rules to fit their own personal preference.

None of our School Buses have the District Names on the side enless the School District owns it. It is optional if the Private Contractors want to put there name on there side of the bus. They eithier put it up under the first two windows or at the very bottom of the bus near the front.
The Bus had to be numbered at both sides of the front and the back and I also think the roof has to have the number on it ( I am not positive about that )

I never got the concept of having a number above the door.

Hey ThomasGuy

Most of the Durham buses down here originally had the School Districts name left on the sides of the bus unless it was a new bus in which it had durham transportation. For example Eagle one of the districts had contracted and most of there buses retained the district name with just the Durham Transportation cow logo right about the fuel tank door on the right and the same logo on the left side above the battery box. The buses had the Durham 6 or 5 digit number on the rear of the sides and on the front and rear bumbers. Some buses that have the Durham name on the sides like the new ones also had the district name in white letters on the opposite side of the bumper that the 6 or 5 digit number was on. The new buses that has the Durham on the sides have the district name at the front lower part of the side of the bus, pretty close to where the cow logo was but a lil lower. But since Durham Transportation became Durham School Services, most of all the buses have the "Transportation" removed and they just put on "School Services". It varies from district really cause ive been around alot of the north texas divisions and some have changed things over and others still have the old cow logo. Ive even seen a few spare buses that have the District name on the side then behind that have the "Durham School Services" also. The buses down here also have the like metal route card holders on the rear, and both sides. Some new buses ive seen even have the Magnetic ones which look pretty nifty.

Thanks

P.S. We have also heard that our division in Texas is now under Durham so they tell us that our buses school be havin the new decals within the 3 wks we have till school starts

In Michigan
The contractor may have their name on the bus or the district name. If they choose the district name- whyich is usually per contract then they must have near the front door, OWNED AND OPERATED BY........
The numbers must be in accordance to state standards which is 6 inches high and must be placed above the driver's window, front door, above the rear windows on the driver and door side or close to the back, the front of bus below the windshield on the door side and in the reaar below the right tail light.

It's the little things that count
