Well with our district the busses are all the same seating capacity so that factor is out. Last time I asked, our mechanic looked at how many miles a day you drive, the conditions of the roads you drive on, and how well you take care of your bus. And this is the order in which he went by.

I look at age, condition, and driver preference. I have a driver who loves his 92 Bluebird and he has an extremely long route. Normally I would put a newer bus on a route his length, but since it's a good bus and he likes it, I let him keep it.

I also look at how well a driver takes care of their bus. If they want a newer one, they need to take care of their current one.
