What's the difference between DT 466 and DT 466E?

The "E" designation is for electronic controls. It is a computer controlled engine with many advancements. The computer and accompanying harnesses are needed to operate it properly. Without the "E" simply means it's an older engine, usually 1996 or older, and entirely mechanical in it's operation with no electronic controls at all.
Both are good.

In the 2004+ units, however, International dropped the E on it's engines, and it is now known once again as the DT466. However, it is still electronic, unlike the previous DT466s of pre-96/97.

I was wondering because on their 4300 trucks, under the chassis model, it says "DT 466" and not "DT 466E"

I guess they figure after about 10 years, it's a "given" that all of the engines are electronic. I'd agree with that.
