Some school bus drivers in Quebec are asking to be notified if they recently transported a student who tested positive for COVID-19, Global News reports.

School boards and service centers in Quebec are not currently required to let their partner organizations, which include school bus companies, know when a school has a confirmed COVID-19 case, according to the news source. The government does, however, require administrators to notify all parents and staff members at a school when it becomes the site of an infection, according to a news release obtained by Global News from the Confédération des Syndicats Nationaux union, which represents 3,500 school bus drivers in Quebec.

The union said, according to the news source, that drivers are often exposed to students for long periods of time, students younger than fifth-graders are not required to wear masks, and drivers also aren’t always able to keep an appropriate amount of distance.
