ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The 37th Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition took place during the National School Transportation Association’s annual meeting and convention held in Boston, July 14-15.

In the Small Bus Class, Jaye Jaye Knickelbein of Trigg County (Ky.) Board of Education took first place, Bob Hutson of Durham School Services, Kansas, placed second and Cynthia E. Smith from Olathe (Kan.) USD 233 placed third.

In the Conventional Class, George Soverns of Rittenhouse Bus Lines Inc., Pennsylvania, took first place, Larry Hannon of Centennial School District in Warminster, Pa., placed second and Cindy Shipley of Laidlaw Education Services, Colorado, placed third.

In the Transit Class, Alfred Boyce from Falcon (Colo.) School District 49 placed first. Edward Hundley of Topeka (Kan.) Public Schools came in second and Tyler Reynolds from Virginia Beach (Va.) Public Schools came in third.

The 2008 International Safety Competition will be held July 19-20, 2008, in Calgary, Alberta.
