LAFAYETTE, Colo. — Peggy Burns’ Putting the Brakes on Harassment program can be ordered at $50 off of the regular price through Aug. 31.

The video training program is aimed at helping school bus drivers recognize and address student-to-student harassment when it happens on their watch.

“The feds’ recent ‘Dear Colleague’ letter sent to all school districts is a reminder that a district can violate students’ civil rights if its staff members don’t take action in the face of bullying based on race, sex, religion, national origin, ethnicity and disability — in other words, harassment,” Burns said.

The program, which is suggested as a companion to bullying training, is being offered for $125 (regularly $175) plus $15 shipping and handling through Aug. 31, 2011. It can be ordered online at www.educationcompliancegroup.com (enter discount code “Expo” in the appropriate box on the order form) or by calling (888) 604-6141.

Burns recently wrote a feature article for SBF that discusses the distinction between bullying and harassment and offers best practices for dealing with both on the bus.
