ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — A 9-year-old boy was killed and at least 14 other students were injured when their school bus crashed into a semitrailer on Monday afternoon, TCPalm reports.

Approximately 30 St. Lucie County School District students were on the bus when the driver attempted to turn left onto a road. In doing so, he turned in front of the semitrailer, and the truck struck the right rear side of the bus. Officials said the impact of the collision spun the bus 180 degrees clockwise and overturned the tractor-trailer, leaving it upside down with its wheels in the air.

Aaron Beauchamp was found dead inside the bus, and four students were flown to medical centers for treatment of their injuries. Ten other students with serious injuries were taken by ambulance to another medical center.

The St. Lucie County School District and the Florida Highway Patrol are conducting investigations into the accident.
