Officials say CleanFUEL USA’s facility in Wixom, Mich., will allow for better use of production space.
The square footage of the new facility is double that of the previous facility, which was located in Novi, Mich.
The new facility is 10,000 square feet, and officials said its configuration allows for better use of production space, including a dedicated clean room for sensitive component assembly and an expanded prototype shop for developing new designs and systems.
The company plans to celebrate its move with an open house, which is open to the public, on Sept. 18.
CleanFUEL USA is currently the propane system provider for the General Motors 6.0 liter G4500 product, and the company will soon serve as the provider for the Freightliner Custom Chassis S2G product. The S2G incorporates the General Motors 8.0 liter engine, developed and integrated by Powertrain Integration, into both a propane delivery truck and a Thomas Built school bus.
“Having a presence in the metro Detroit area played a significant role in landing new OEM partners and will facilitate additional partners in the future,” said Wayne Moore, chief operating officer of CleanFUEL USA. “The ability to boast a close working relationship with important suppliers and partners in this area, who continue to support our programs, serves as a key component to our success.”
CleanFUEL USA has also hired more than six employees in the past six months and will continue to grow its Detroit team, officials said.
The company’s headquarters and dispenser manufacturing facilities will remain in Georgetown, Texas.
