The average on-highway diesel price in the U.S. was down to $3.213 per gallon as of Monday — the lowest point in four years.

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the current average is $0.69 (or 18%) lower than the average in the same week last year.

The price of diesel in the U.S. has been on a steady decline since March 10 of this year, when it peaked at $4.021 per gallon.

This week’s average of $3.213 per gallon is the lowest since Dec. 6, 2010, when it was $3.197.
