ASHBURN, Va. — A free public event here on Tuesday highlighted transportation safety for school-age children.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held the back-to-school event in coordination with Loudoun County Public Schools, Safe Kids Fairfax County, Youth of Virginia Speak Out, Virginia Safe Routes to School and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The event featured demonstrations on school bus safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and child safety seats.

NTSB said that the joint back-to-school event would “arm parents, kids and communities with life-saving transportation safety tips.”

The event was held at 10 a.m. at Trailside Middle School in Ashburn.
