SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — A former special-needs school bus driver who was reportedly seen passed out near her bus with students on board has been charged with DUI and has resigned, the Daily Herald reports.

Police reports state that on March 8, Sherry Lund was driving an Alpine School District bus, and a third party called the police when Lund was seen unconscious on the side of the road, according to the newspaper. Police reports also state that Lund failed multiple sobriety tests and that her blood alcohol content was 0.17, more than double the legal limit for operating a vehicle.

The city of Saratoga Springs filed misdemeanor charges against Lund last week. She was charged with one count of DUI and four charges of reckless endangerment, which are all class A misdemeanors, according to the Daily Herald. A criminal summons was also issued for Lund to appear in court on May 31. Lund has no criminal history prior to the charges, according to the newspaper.

The school district placed Lund on administrative leave on March 10, and she resigned later that day. No one was harmed in the incident.
