CLEVELAND — The School Bus Safety Co. has received the results of an extensive review of the new Driver Training Course carried out by School Risk Resources.
The review involved a group of four independent school risk management and safety professionals. School Risk Resources develops risk management programs to benefit K-12 education and arranges safety review teams for clients.
For the Driver Training Course review assignment, the reviewers were assembled on the basis of their combined experience with large and small districts in four locations of the U.S. Together, they have been involved with school safety programs that serve nearly 900 school districts.
Full copies of the Driver Training Course were provided to each reviewer, and they evaluated them in detail over a three-month period. The conclusion of the review report states:
“In comparison to other program models and overall training approaches the Driver Training Course sets a very high standard of excellence. No other program is now known that even comes close to the SBSC Driver Training Course.”
Here are excerpts of comments from the report's primary author:
"We undertook this project because we felt it would help school districts receive an unbiased view of the Driver Training Course and help them choose an effective program. … Our team performed an extensive and thorough review and we were all very impressed. The multi-media production and technical aspects of the Driver Training Course are generally excellent. Presented as designed, we are confident that the course will change driver behaviors, make students safer and reduce accidents.”
Jeff Cassell, president of the School Bus Safety Co., noted that the company was not allowed to give the reviewers instructions about the methods to be used or expectations for the findings and conclusion of the review.
“We believe our school bus Driver Training Course is far and away the best available training material available,” Cassell said. “We have now had this confirmed by independent reviewers.”
