NEW ORLEANS — First Student will continue to partner with Jefferson Parish Public School System for the 2016-17 school year and beyond.

The district has renewed its transportation contract with First Student for five additional years.

First Student will update its fleet with the addition of more than 60 new buses over the course of the contract. The buses will be equipped with onboard GPS and the Child Check-Mate system.

“We value our long-term partnership with the Jefferson Parish Public School System, and look forward to continuing to work together to deliver transportation solutions that meet the needs of the district and its students,” said First Student Area General Manager Tony Vidrine. “We are committed to using our insights, expertise, and resources to provide quality, consistent service for many years to come.”

First Student transports more than 21,000 Jefferson Parish students to and from school each day. The district's contract with First Student includes the operation, maintenance, and management of a fleet of nearly 150 vehicles that serve 85 schools throughout the district.
