HIGH POINT, N.C. — SynTec Seating Solutions offers black back seat covers for its S3B and S3C school bus seats, the company announced on Monday.

The design provides the same quality as SynTec’s traditional seat cover colors while helping to reduce vandalism, according to the supplier. Black back covers are available in fire-block vinyl with color combinations such as gray/black and blue/black.

“We are very excited to offer this sleek design to our customers; the black back seat covers are an interesting alternative to standard seat back colors,” said Rick Smith, OEM account manager at SynTec Seating Solutions. “Safety, capacity, and ease are at the core of every product offered by SynTec — the same is true for this great product.”

The concept of black back seat covers originated in Clark County, Nevada, and has gained popularity in other locations, according to SynTec. Reductions in vandalism have been reported by school bus operations in Dallas and Houston, Texas.

“We’ve successfully used black back seat covers for three years,” said Aaron Hobbs, executive director of transportation for Dallas County Schools. “The convenience of the zip-on seat backs allows us to quickly change out seat backs and minimize downtime for repairs.”
