ATLANTA — Two maintenance leaders at Atlanta Public Schools have attained master certification from ASE.
Oliver Baird, fleet manager, and Brian Purtymun, fleet foreman, completed a series of rigorous tests on various maintenance topics to earn the ASE Master School Bus Technician certification.
Both Baird and Purtymun came to Atlanta Public Schools last year as part of an overhaul of the fleet department. The district also hired four new master fleet technicians and nine other new maintenance staff members.
Baird formerly served as national maintenance director for Tug Technologies. He has also managed large fleets at Coca-Cola and Con-way Freight. Purtymun’s previous experience includes working for Ryder and Allan Vigil Ford.
Atlanta Public Schools has a fleet of 310 school buses in daily route service, transporting about 27,000 students daily.
