SAN ANTONIO — School bus drivers are helping to promote summer reading among students in the San Antonio Independent School District (ISD).

During the last week of June, the district’s drivers distributed more than 1,700 free books to about 600 students who are attending summer school.

Book Buddies, which is an initiative of San Antonio Youth Literacy, provided the books.

“The students love them,” said Nathan Graf, senior executive director of transportation and vehicle maintenance for San Antonio ISD. “One student said that she was excited to get the books and will read them to her brother when she gets home.”
