STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania School Bus Association (PSBA) recently presented its “The Bus Stops Here” award to Randall L. Smith, owner of Smith Bus Co.
Smith received the honor during PSBA’s annual convention, held June 25 to 27 at the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College. Smith Bus Co., located in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, has been transporting students since 1965.
The PSBA executive committee gives the Bus Stops Here award to a person who has made a significant contribution to the association. Recipients uphold PSBA’s ideals and work to fulfill its safety, education, and advocacy missions.
Randall Smith has been a member of PSBA since 1988 and has served on the board of directors since 1993. For many years, Smith served as chair of the PSBA convention committee. During that time, the convention experienced “tremendous growth and success,” according to the association.
Smith has also served as PSBA treasurer, secretary, and first vice president. In 2012, he was elected president of the association, serving in that position until July 2014.
“Randy Smith and his team have been an integral part of this association,” said current PSBA President Fred Bennett, who nominated Smith for the award. “The work Randy has completed during his time with the PSBA will guide us, will benefit us, and will remind us of how important the association, our convention, and each other are to this industry.”
PSBA, which was founded in 1980, consists of more than 325 school bus contractors and industry partners.
