HARRISBURG, Pa. — School bus safety took center stage at Pennsylvania’s annual School Bus Safety Week reception at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg on Oct. 17.
The Pennsylvania School Bus Association (PSBA) joined other members of the school transportation community during National School Bus Safety Week to promote safety and to honor pupil transportation professionals.
During the reception, students were recognized for their winning entries in Pennsylvania’s School Bus Safety Poster Contest. Students from across the state submitted entries relating to this year’s theme: “My Driver — My Safety Hero.” The winning poster in each of the three categories will be submitted for national judging.
Winners of the 2017 Pennsylvania School Bus Driver Safety Competition were also honored during the School Bus Safety Week reception. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation presented each of the drivers with a certificate. PSBA President Fred Bennett then gave the top winner in each division a special traveling trophy from the association.
“Our state is privileged to have these professionals transporting our children to school,” Bennett said.
