LANSING, Mich. — Midwest Transit Equipment has expanded its IC Bus distribution reach with an acquisition in Michigan.
The school and commercial bus dealer announced last week that its affiliate Capital City Acquisition Corp. has purchased Capital City International Trucks, a dealer for IC Bus, International Truck, and Trans Tech based in Lansing.
The deal gives Midwest Transit Equipment the distribution rights for IC Bus products for the entire state of Michigan. The company’s territory also covers Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri.
Midwest Transit Equipment is one of the largest bus distributors in the U.S. The 42-year-old company offers new and used buses, parts, service, and financing. In addition to IC Bus, the company is a dealer for Collins Bus Corp., Starcraft, and multiple commercial bus brands.
Last year, former principal owners Jim Bridgewater Jr. and Barry Huebner sold the stock of Midwest Transit Equipment to John McKinney, former president of Navistar’s global bus division, and an investment group led by Brightwater Partners.
