DECATUR, Ga. — School bus drivers here had their cars broken into while they drove their routes on Monday afternoon.
Police are working to find out who broke into more than a dozen drivers’ cars, which were parked at Buck Godfrey Stadium in Decatur, where they usually park their cars, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. One school bus driver told Channel 2 News that the back window of his car had been shattered, and it had been rummaged through, along with other cars in the lot.
The driver also told Channel 2 News that this wasn't the first time drivers had their cars broken into in the lot: thieves had also targeted the drivers’ cars a year ago.
Shumuriel Ratliff, a spokesperson for DeKalb County School District, released a statement obtained by Channel 2 News and other news sources, which said that the district “cares about the safety of our bus drivers and the safety of their property.” The statement also said that the district is working on security enhancements.
