MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A school bus driver here evacuated students from their bus just before it caught fire last week, fire officials said.

At about 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 30, the Madison Township Fire Department received an alert of a bus fire near Middletown Germantown Road, according to the Fire Department’s Facebook page. The bus driver was able to pull the bus over to a safe location and properly evacuate students from the bus. No one was hurt during the incident.

Madison Local Schools said in a Facebook post that they were thankful for the quick response of the driver and the fire department, and that all of the students remained calm and followed protocol during the incident.

The district also noted that they are working with Petermann Transportation, the transportation company the district contracts their buses with, to determine the cause of the fire, and that they will continue to review safety policies and conduct routine checks on their buses.
