SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Ted Finlayson-Schueler, a well-known school transportation author and conference speaker, has established Safety Rules!, a non-profit organization that advocates school travel safety through education and consultation.

Finlayson-Schueler founded the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute and served as its executive director for 14 years before leaving the Syracuse-based organization last fall.

According to Finlayson-Schueler, Safety Rules! will champion greater safety in all modes of school travel — school bus, transit bus, car, bicycle and walking.

Finlayson-Schueler said the organization will serve school districts, contractors and government agencies through curriculum and manual development, conference presentations and consultation on the safety of operations, bus routes and stops, school site traffic patterns and special-needs transportation.
